Pocket House
Melbourne Grove, East Dulwich
RIBA London Award-winning new family house constructed on the restricted site of a former double garage, using sunken courtyards and lightwells to maximise space and daylight.

Residential ยท New Build
The construction of a highly crafted contemporary family home on a constrained urban infill site in East Dulwich. Designed by Tikari Works, Pocket House occupies the former site of a double garage and was developed to provide generous accommodation despite the physical limitations of the plot.
Arranged across three levels, the house uses a sunken courtyard, lightwells and carefully positioned openings to introduce natural light deep into the interior. Extensive detailing and close coordination were required to deliver the exposed materials, bespoke elements and compact structural arrangement.
Completed in 2018, the project received multiple architectural awards and was nominated for the RIBA House of the Year for its inventive response to a challenging site.
