The Challenge
Construction of the Australian War Memorial in London: a nationally significant public realm project at Hyde Park Corner, comprising a curved granite memorial wall inscribed with the names of Commonwealth battles. The scheme required specialist groundworks and structural works to deliver a complex monumental structure in an exposed and historically sensitive central London location.
Our Approach
Patterson Construction delivered the groundworks and structural package, including excavation, concrete works, and the installation of the granite wall elements. The project required close coordination with the commissioning authority, heritage stakeholders, and specialist stone contractors to achieve the precision and quality demanded by a permanent public memorial.
The Outcome
The Australian War Memorial was successfully constructed and opened in London. Patterson Construction’s involvement in a project of national and cultural significance demonstrates the breadth and quality of work the team is trusted to deliver.
